Frontier Living is a Twin Cities based housing stabilization service. We have a simple goal: to find stable and sustainable housing for everyone who is currently homeless or at risk of becoming a homeless in the state of Minnesota. Keeping a housing situation of one’s choice contributes to their integral being and results in productivity in the community they work and live in. Our business is growing exponentially, which has created a great opportunity for a Housing Stabilization Services Worker.
What will you do?
The position is responsible for providing services in the client’s home or in the community. Services provided will strongly emphasize personal goal setting and developing strategies to achieve them, skill building, client advocacy, and connecting clients with community resources. With a typical caseload of ten clients, specific responsibilities include:
- Meet weekly with clients to develop and monitor person-centered housing plans and address any barriers
- Ensure services are culturally sensitive and culturally appropriate, and follow a holistic and person centered delivery method
- Support clients in applying for all benefits (county, state, tribal and federal) that will help them afford their housing.
- Assist clients in applying for housing and negotiating leases
- Supports a person to maintain housing through prevention and early identification of behaviors that may jeopardize their continued housing.
- Support and coach clients on being a good tenant, lease compliance and household management
- Connect client to community supports
- Maintain billing and documentation in accordance with Department of Human Services guidelines and submits billing according to procedures established by department: weekly progress/encounter notes, billing encounters, monthly progress reports, and file reviews in health records.
What are the qualifications?
- At least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Knowledge of established concepts, principles and practices related to housing and homelessness, with full consideration of mental, emotional and physical factors.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills, function independently and make complex decisions based on best practices and applicable regulations
- Excellent interpersonal skills in handling interactions with staff, other agencies, groups, and patients and families; capable of working with and actively participating with a diverse multi-disciplinary team.
· Basic knowledge of principles, procedures, techniques, trends and literature of social work (e.g., mental disorders, human development, social policy, developmental disabilities, cultural factors, etc.).
