SECURITY GUARD
sition is to provide assistance to the daily operations of the school that will ensure the success of Career Pathways, its vision, mission, goals and objectives.
Security Support Staff will greet students and visitors in our busy reception area, ensure that they use the sign-in/out sheet, prevent entry and exit during soft lockdowns, periodically (every 30 mins) check doors and the perimeter of the school, and become an intricate part of day-to-day operations in our 6-12 school.
This person will not be armed.
Responsibility:

Assist in maintaining the safety protocols of a safe facility (ie. fire, terroristic, and tornado)

Monitor and assist with visitors, deliveries, late arrival and early departure of students

Manage and oversee student behavior by following the procedures that are developed by the school

Enforce bus safety and support to students and the bus company

Foster a learning environment that is free of racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination which values personal and cultural diversity, which celebrates achievement of excellence

Provide leadership in the development of relationships both internal and external in all sectors of the community to ensure the positioning of Career Pathways is responsive and collaborative

Ensure urban students’ safety needs are addressed

Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum: High School Diploma, CPI or First Aid training, Positive experience as a youth leader, Able to work flexible hours. Hours for this position range from 6:45am to 2:15pm on school days. This is an hourly position. Some flexibility in hours will be considered depending upon the needs of the school community.
Preferred:
Experience working in K-12 education; Ability to communicate in a diverse setting; Successful experience with culturally responsive and de-escalating communication; Working Proficiency in Somali and or Spanish.
