Position summary
The Neighborhood Program Coordinator (NPC) is responsible for coordinating the successful execution of multiple community-based food distributions designed to increase access to fresh and healthy food. This is a client-facing position and will be critical in ensuring a dignified experience for clients and a fulfilling experience for volunteers.
The NPC will support and lead volunteers, engage in community outreach, and serve as a liaison to communities across multiple programs. The position will work at a variety of locations in the community, including the Pantry, Pop Up Produce stands, Garden to Table sites and Mobile Lunchbox sites. The position ensures all clients are served in a dignified, respectful, and non-judgmental manner. They work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Primary Duties & Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and support volunteers during daily operations and assist in on-the-job volunteer training. Give clear and positive directions to volunteers when necessary.
- Track & record client data in Excel spreadsheets and other databases.
- Plan, load and drive vehicles to community sites and coordinate activities upon arrival.
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with clients and communities served at all Open Door sites.
- Support community-based offsite partnerships and distributions.
- Conduct community outreach at worksites and at community events.
- Engage with staff and clients in a respectful, professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with worksites to identify and staff community events that may increase community awareness of Open Door.
- Work with communities to evaluate Open Door programs for effectiveness and improvement opportunities.
- Work with Planning and Partnerships Manager to develop additional opportunities for community support through partnerships or expanded program offerings.
- Work collaboratively with Program Managers to support and represent their programs while in the community.
- Work collaboratively with the Client Services Manager to ensure accurate data is collected and proper community referral information is provided across sites.
- Work collaboratively with Volunteer Services Specialist to ensure adequate volunteer support is secured for all community distributions and adequate training is available to all volunteers.
- Interact with clients, donors and volunteers in a professional & respectful manner.
- Resolve client complaints in a professional, caring manner.
- Maintain client, volunteer and organizational confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain and promote positive relationships with site partners.
- Adhere to and actively promote the mission and values of the organization.
- Adhere to safety procedures & policies at all times.
- Receive, sort, stock, load and store food inventory and donations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of facilities. This includes cleaning, breaking down boxes, carrying out trash and keeping work areas clutter-free.

Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 years customer service and/or community outreach experience
- Bilingual Spanish / English strongly preferred
- Experience leading and working with volunteers
- Sound computer skills including MS Office 365
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (with notice)
- Access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and good driving record
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to kneel, bend and twist

Work Schedule
The Neighborhood Program Coordinator will maintain a flexible work schedule including at least two evenings per week. Weekend availability is infrequent and accompanied by multiple weeks notice.
