Description
Position Purpose:
To provide an enriching academic development and learning environment that promotes academic learning and is appropriate to the maturity, interests and learning styles of ACC students. Develop a linguistically and culturally appropriate educational program. Work with directors, educational team and other staff to ensure ACC’s mission, values, vision and curriculum objectives are supported, modeled, infused throughout the curriculum, and taught to the students.
Required Position Qualifications:
- The minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Must have or be eligible for Minnesota Teacher's license
- Excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish
- Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
- Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for youth
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Experience working with diverse student and family populations
- Excellent knowledge and understands the Latino culture and embraces cultural diversity
- Full time, in person Monday-Friday 7:15-3:15 to start February 1st, 2021

Competencies:
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of innovative teaching methods
- Knowledge of state standards in Physical Education PK-8th grade
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Latino culture or be willing to research
- Demonstrate previous teaching and/or instructional experience in an inner city setting and work with urban youth
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
- Demonstrate interest in public school reform and social justice
- Commit to the mission, values, and vision upon which the school was founded
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests and learning styles of the students; relationship centered classroom management style
- Work with families and students from diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Problem-solve and critically assess the skills a student needs using a variety of data
- Ability to take advantage of children’s individual interests and use their internal motivation for developing needed skills
- Effectively utilize a student's individual interests and use their internal motivation for developing needed skills
- Set high expectations for all students
- Provide daily success opportunities for all students
