For more than 100 years Vision Loss Resources (VLR) has provided services for those who are visually impaired, blind or deafblind. Clients, caregivers, donors, business partners, volunteers and dedicated staff provide robust support for VLR programming through Community Services, Rehabilitation Services and DeafBlind Services of Minnesota. Contract Production Services is a social enterprise owned by VLR which contributes support to the mission to provide services, skills and support for people with vision loss.
Position Summary
This position plans, prepares, and facilitates Community Center classes, activities and outings for individuals with vision loss. This staff person will:
- Plan and execute a variety of activities, events and outings such as museum tours and outings to restaurants
- Manage inventory and materials needed to conduct the various activities each month
- Personally prepare for and facilitate 8 – 10 events and classes per month
- Ensure each client feels welcome and supported while attending Community Center activities
- Coordinate and oversee events and classes taught by volunteers and staff
- Research, evaluate and recommend new programs, events and classes to add to the monthly calendar
- Work with the Volunteer Manager to recruit volunteers to support the various activities
- Provide administrative support, as needed
Position Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or relevant combination of education and experience
- Prior success coordinating or delivering programming desirable
- Experience working with disabilities desirable
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work a fluctuating schedule
- Access to reliable transportation to both St. Paul and Minneapolis locations, and to outings
- Ability to work 3-4 evenings per month
